Mike Gilson has tried to model his career, sometimes successfully and other times not, on the dictum of Aristotle that “the formula for success is to come up with a great idea and get it done.” Mike’s career in the aerospace and defense industries focused on building and sustaining companies in a diverse range of functions including strategic planning, operations, finance, global business development, marketing, and product innovation and launch. Mike has lived in or worked in more than 40 countries ranging from Pakistan to France to China where he has had the privilege of working with senior business leaders and high-ranking government officials for companies including McKinsey & Co., GE, Airbus, and Deep Ocean Engineering. Over the past 20+ years, Mike has balanced his daytime responsibilities with a passion for the non-profit world where he has served in virtually all capacities from Board President to builder of a classroom for a public elementary school in San Francisco to serving as a Trustee of the University of Pennsylvania. More recently, Mike has served on the boards of the Library of UC Davis, where he is Board Chair, the Lafayette Library and Learning Center Foundation where he served as Board President, the Lafayette War Veteran’s Memorial, Lafayette Town Hall Theatre, and is a frequent mentor at the Child Center for Entrepreneurship – UC Davis Graduate School of Management. Mike holds a BA from the University of California – Davis an MBA from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, and is a Veteran of the US Air Force.
