CLSI’s second International Showcase kicked off with presentations by nine companies to an audience of 200+ attendees at UCSF’s Byer’s Auditorium in Mission Bay on Tuesday December 10. In addition to four Bay Area companies from CLSI’s Fall 2019 FAST program, the Showcase included presentations from 5 Canadian companies who have just completed the FAST International CTA Program.

The presenting companies were: Algen Biotechnologies (USA), a therapeutic discovery company building an intelligent platform to decode functional gene networks for drug discovery; Altay Therapeutics (USA), which is developing targeted curative therapies for treatment of chronic diseases; AntoXa Corporation (Canada), developing medical countermeasures to protect military and civilian personnel from biological and chemical agents and nerve trauma; Avro Life Science (Canada), which is advancing a universal platform for the transdermal delivery of therapeutics; BioInteractive Technologies (Canada), creating intelligent wearables to revolutionize physical therapy for injuries such as Rheumatoid Arthritis, Stroke, Wrist Fractures, Carpal Tunnel Syndrome and Tennis/Golfer’s Elbow; Cohesys (Canada), which is developing a surgical tape called BoneTape for the stabilization of mid-facial fractures; Convalesce (USA), focusing on advancing stem cell therapy through advanced and smart biomaterials; Neuraura (Canada), which is improving the lives of millions of people by unlocking the field of personalized brain care with a next generation neural net; and Reservoir Neuroscience (USA), which is developing therapeutics to repair the blood-brain barrier, restore vascular function in the brain, and reverse age-related cognitive impairment.

Begun seven years ago, FAST continues to defy industry norms with its impressive track record: 69 company graduates – only three of which are no longer functioning – have raised over $1 billion, including 27 Series A (and beyond) financings, formed 14 strategic partnerships and produced five exits since participating in FAST.
