Heather Shane is Chief Business Officer at CLSI, where she facilitates engagement with CLSI’s entrepreneurship initiatives and creates access to California’s innovation ecosystem for a variety of corporate, non-profit and governmental stakeholders/clients. Heather joined CLSI in August 2016 to lead CLSI’s CARB-X Accelerator providing entrepreneurial support and subject matter expertise to companies developing product candidates to address the global threat of antimicrobial resistance. CARB-X is the world’s leading non-profit partnership focused on accelerating early development of antibiotics, vaccines, diagnostics and other products combating antimicrobial resistance. Prior to joining CLSI, Heather served as Vice President & Assistant General Counsel at Theravance Biopharma (TBPH), a Bay Area biopharmaceutical company with a deep and diverse pipeline of product candidates, a commercial-stage antibiotic and financial assets. At TBPH, Heather handled a broad range of corporate, financing, partnering and operational matters, and honed her legal and business skills in the drug discovery and clinical development process, product commercialization and the regulatory and compliance regimes governing these activities. Heather started her career as a corporate associate at Gunderson Dettmer Stough Villeneuve & Hachigian, where she represented start-ups, venture capital and public company clients in a variety of transactions until joining Theravance as Assistant General Counsel in 2005.
