SF US2020 Matches Professionals with San Francisco Educators

SF US2020 pairs STEM mentors with San Francisco middle school students in grades 6-8. Prfoessionals will work with after-school providers to implement a series of five one-hour lessons. The types of lessons are dependent on the professional volunteer and his or her after-school collaborator.

Lessons occur during a seven to eight-week window in the 2014-2015 school year. SF US2020 is a collaborative effort led by the Science and Health Education Partnership (SEP) at UCSF with the City of San Francisco, the San Francisco Unified School District, Techbridge and the Foundation.

This national initiative intends to dramatically increase the scale and quality of mentorships between STEM professionals and students underrepresented in the sciences. The SF US2020 program helps supports mentors. Attend a program orientation to:

  • Hear about effective strategies for engaging middle school students
  • Learn about the curriculum module that has been prepared for your team
  • Meet your STEM team coordinator
  • Meet your STEM team partners
  • Begin preparing your lessons
