Training Program Partners with UC Berkeley to Train Laid-Off Workers

Bay Area medical device manufacturing just got a boost through part of a $14.9 million Department of Labor Grant that trains unemployed individuals for biomedical  careers.  The grant funds an innovative consortium that includes UC Berkeley’s BIomolecular Nanotechnology Center – a core research facility of the California Institute for Quantitative Biosciences (QB3) – and Laney College. Read a recent article in the Daily Californian.

According to the article, students learn about microfabrication processes and how to build microfluidic systems. These skill sets make the students look attractive to new companies that manufacture with these technologies.
