Life Science Education
CLSI brings industry and institutions of learning together to improve life science education in Northern California and to make students aware of and prepared for career opportunities in the life sciences industry. By supporting science education and educators, CLSI helps develop the next generation of life science professionals.
CLSI’s Amgen Bay Area BioGENEius Challenge recognizes outstanding high school science students in the region, advancing winners to compete in the National and International BioGENEius Challenges at the BIO International Convention.
Northern California companies can make tax-deductible donations of equipment, supplies and consumables –giving them a second life in cash-starved classrooms – through the Bio-Link equipment Depot, located near SFO at the City College of San Francisco Airport Campus.
CLSI Life Science Connections
The California Life Science Institute’s (CLSI’s) Life Science Connections program facilitates student-industry connections that inspire and develop life science careers, particularly among underrepresented students.
In spite of the fact that life science careers are – and are projected to be – the fastest growing employment sector through 2020, a mere 3% of life science positions are currently held by females of color. To counter this alarming trend, CLSI is partnering with NexGeneGirls to bring rigorous hands-on science training and internships to young females of color in San Francisco.
